The Curious Places Art Takes You
Share
Last weekend I had the wonderful experience delivering this Rooted in Nature painting, to Elizabeth.
She had been made the final payment and the time had come to deliver the art!
We planned for us to meet up halfway, in Pittsburgh at Phipps Conservatory, which just happened to have an Alice in Wonderland themed exhibit. I had no idea until I arrived, and what a delightful surprise!
We wandered through the gardens finding eachother at the white rabbit.
Elizabeth has collected a number of my paintings over the years. So we’ve known each other through the art for years online.
But sitting across the table, sharing face to face conversation over brunch and realizing how much we had in common was the cherry on top. There is something so magical about knowing exactly who a painting is going to live with, and discovering how the art connects us. Because there are shared visual languages that exist far beyond words, and there can be many different interpretations or perspectives on the same piece.
It's always remarkable to me, when the the paintings I make alone in my studio, connect with the person that it's meant for. This past weekend when we met, we met on a soul level. I'm extremely humbled and grateful every single time that happens. This is why I offer the delivery experience.
Below are more photos of the gardens and from the day.
