Dangerously Awake

Dangerously Awake explores the uneasy relationship between nature, desire, choice, and consequence. The leopard moth on her face carries subtle nod to the modern metaphor “I never thought leopards would eat MY face,” says person who voted for the Leopards Eating Other People’s Faces Party. — this piece points to the the idea that we sometimes make choices and invite in a leopard in believing its teeth are meant for someone else, only to discover that no one is exempt from it's danger. The Foxglove holds a similar contradiction: strikingly beautiful and medicinal in careful hands, yet toxic and poisonous. At the center, the open eye a reminder to look beyond what at first glance, seems interesting, appealing or familiar, question what we invite in, and remain awake to the consequences of our choices.
